I THINK OF THINGS, THEN MAKE THEM HAPPEN PERIOD. - M

malia dishon aka maliaSHUTup is a multi-hyphenate artist. based in atlanta, ga.

Malia Dishon’s path into the entertainment industry is a unique one and it all begins with her parents, Dee Dee Hibbler & Ray Murray (producer & co-founder of Organized Noize and The Dungeon Family). Through their work with OutkastGoodie Mob and many other legendary artists, Malia was exposed to the inner workings of the music industry at a very young age. She likes to say that her entire childhood was an internship that propelled her into a career in entertainment.

“I was exposed to so much as a child. From being in the studio all day and night to always being at events and concerts and I’m so grateful for it all. I’ll never forget seeing my family, Outkast, filming a music video at my house when I was like 7 or 8. And I walked around asking questions & observing it all. Acting like it was my set and everything. I knew then that I would be working in the industry one day.”

She began to forge a path of her own in 2009 when by managing digital marketing and social media for Grammy Award-winning guitarist Earl Klugh, right after graduating high school. While pursuing her marketing degree at The University of Georgia (UGA), she was able to assist Klugh in enhancing his digital footprint by developing strategies, writing blogs, and increasing real-time interaction with his fans. She was also able to gain extensive digital marketing experience by interning with the historic Georgia Theatre, traveling internationally for ad campaigns with Education First Tours and developing a social strategy for GE Energy Management.

Soon after graduating from UGA , Malia connected with Love Renaissance (LVRN) coincidentally via Twitter. Their first artist, Raury, caught her attention and she immediately shared his music with her uncle, Andre Benjamin (Andre 3000). She expressed to Raury via direct message that her uncle loved his music and that he believes that Raury was light years ahead of his time. After maintaining a close friendship with the team, LVRN hired Malia’s company, maliaSHUTup, to manage their clients’ social media accounts and assist in all marketing efforts for the company in 2015. In the same year, Malia directed her first music video for Raury’s song “Fly” featuring Malik Shakur.

In the years to follow, Malia spearheaded social strategy & managed the social accounts for Summer Walker, 6lack, DRAM, Cruel Santino and Westside Boogie. In 2019, she was promoted to Sr. Marketing Director at LVRN, executing strategic marketing plans & overseeing social media management for all artists. Malia had the pleasure of leading innovative marketing activations for Summer Walker’s debut, double platinum selling album, Over It, (debuting #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 & #1 on R&B albums chart). Malia also directed the music video for Summer’s “Stretch You Out”, which propelled her into the next phase of her creative journey. The following year, Malia decided to broaden her artistic endeavors by becoming a full time creative director and music video director via her company maliaSHUTup! Since 2020, she’s had the opportunity to direct and/or lead creative for a variety of music videos & live performances for major artists including, Latto, Glorilla, Tems, Kelly Rowland, Summer Walker, Masego and more! As Malia works alongside the stars of today, she is continuing to expand creatively and is very excited to share music of her own soon.
